Board loader systems

Our blank loader systems are specially developed for use in cutting and forming presses and offer reliable and precise handling of workpieces. The range of applications extends from the production of small parts to the manufacture of car body parts or refrigerators.

Blank loader systems are used in a wide range of applications in the automotive industry and in the production of white goods. They are characterised by their high performance and reliability, making them an important part of our customers’ production processes.

The systems are manufactured exclusively in Germany. Our employees have many years of experience in the development and manufacture of blank loader systems.

We have been a reliable partner for our customers for decades. We offer not only high-quality products, but also excellent service and comprehensive advice to ensure that our customers receive the best solutions for their production processes. We work closely with our customers to develop individual solutions and deliver customised blank loader systems that meet the specific requirements of each customer.

Board loader systems from Hagel Automation

Variants
Our blank loaders usually consist of a combination of a feeder and an indexing conveyor. The feeder removes the workpieces from the stacks of blanks and places them on the indexing conveyor. The indexing conveyor then feeds the workpieces to the transfer.
Alternatively, the workpieces can be transferred directly to an indexing conveyor via a lifting unit, which feeds the workpieces to the transfer.

Multiple circuit boards
Depending on the configuration of the sheet metal parts or the system, double or quadruple circuit board arrangements are possible.

Oiling
Spray lubrication of the blanks, including extraction, can be easily integrated into all systems.
Centring station
The blanks can be easily centred before being transferred to the transfer.
The solutions here range from manual options to fully automatic format adjustment.

Rotary axis
Depending on the requirements and part format, the sheet metal parts can be brought into a favourable orientation via a rotary axis.

Electrical control
Our standardised system control consisting of Siemens components enables reliable availability and communication between a wide range of components.
Through constant further development and innovation, we always work with the latest technology

HMI
The user interface is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, so that even inexperienced operators can quickly familiarise themselves with the controls.
Our extended service functions support the rapid rectification of any faults

This application requires a high degree of flexibility from the blank loader. The production requirements included three operating modes:
  1. Sheet metal coil to press
In this operating mode, blanks are cut directly from the coil using scissors and fed directly to the press by the blank loader.
  2. Stacking trolley for press
As a further operating mode, sheet metal parts that are provided on a stacking trolley are also fed to the press from the feeder.
  3. Sheet metal coil to stacking trolley
In addition, sheets cut from the coil can also be stacked in the stacking trolley and used as a buffer.

Blank loader with double sheet separation

In this application for the production of visible parts in the automotive industry, printed circuit boards are further processed. Due to their nature, the blanks tend to stick together.

For this reason, additional pneumatic grippers were integrated into this system on the conveyor line in order to separate any double blanks during the process without risking machine downtime. Discharging the blanks was not an option here as this is a high-quality primary material.

Blank loader Multi Parts

In this application for the production of transmission components, the components are provided in a standardised container in a 3x3 to 5x5 matrix, depending on the diameter.

The blank loader removes 3 to 5 blanks accordingly and places them on the cycle belt. The blanks are brought to a fixed step distance by transferring and clocking them accordingly. The blanks are then centred, optically measured and then transferred to the press in the correct position.

Board loader as retrofit

This blank loader concept offers the possibility of feeding pre-cut blanks as a mobile retrofit to an existing press with coil line.

The blank loader can be loaded manually alternately for uninterrupted operation. The feeder places the workpieces on the indexing conveyor.
The indexing conveyor transports the blanks into the press at right angles to the throughput direction of the transfers. There, the blank is lifted onto the transport level in synchronisation with the cycle of the component and taken over by the transfer.

The blank loader can be positioned on the press using a forklift truck or crane.

// FAQ

Questions and answers

How long does a stack change take?

Normally, the sheet stacks are changed within a few minutes.
However, this does not interrupt the production process, as the sheets are removed from another stack during the stack change.

What is a PCB loader?

A blank loader is a specialised automated handling device that feeds pre-cut sheet metal parts into a mostly multi-stage forming process.

What does a PCB loader do?

A blank loader feeds pre-cut sheet metal parts to a further cutting or forming process.

Which parts are produced with blank loaders?

The workpieces fed by the blank loader are sheet metal parts that are produced in a multi-stage forming process using a forming press.

How does a circuit board loader work?

Blank loaders destack sheets from a stack of sheets and feed them in a synchronised manner to a further cutting or forming process.

What are the advantages of a PCB loader?

Pre-cut blanks can be produced in a material-saving manner and then fed into the further cutting and forming process with the aid of a blank loader.

How fast is a circuit board loader like this?

In standard applications in the automotive industry, the stroke rate is usually between 15 and 30 strokes/min.
Depending on the application, however, a stroke rate of up to 60 strokes/min is also possible.

Why a blank loader from Hagel Automation?

A blank loader from Hagel Automation is a good choice, as the company has many years of experience and expertise in the development and manufacture of automation solutions. Hagel Automation specialises in the production of customised automation systems.

Can an old circuit board loader be replaced?

Systems that were already equipped with a blank loader can usually be retrofitted with a new blank loader without any problems.
However, retrofitting to existing systems that did not yet have a PCB loader is also generally possible. The appropriate space must be available.

What weight can be moved with a blank loader?

Depending on the size of the system, a blank loader can move blanks weighing up to 60 kg with maximum acceleration.

Where are PCB loaders used?

Blank loaders are used in the series production of sheet metal and formed parts. This includes the automotive industry as well as white goods.
